What makes me a mogul?

Hello there! Who am I? I am Dr Leslie Sharpe, a board-certified emergency medicine physician, professional photographer, and the creative eye behind Leslie Sharpe Photography. I am dedicated to providing doctors and dentists with lifestyle portraits to help them leverage their brand and tell their unique story through my photography and personal coaching.

I am the daughter of wonderful parents who grew up during the Great Depression and were determined to make sure that their children were exposed to everything. They wanted us to be well rounded as well as conscientious, compassionate, and understanding individuals.

I am also an emergency physician and I’ve been practicing for 20 years. Time truly does fly. Last but not least, I am a world traveler. If you know me well, you will often hear, “Where on Earth is she now?” I love to experience new places and new cultures.

Let’s get to two important questions for today.

Question #1: What is a mogul?

A mogul is an important, powerful and influential person, also known as a key player.

Question #2: What makes me a mogul?

I am a mogul because I have the ability to express my creative as well as my scientific side. In many ways, medicine is an art, just as photography is an art. Each requires a unique way of looking at things in order to find solutions. As an emergency physician, patients trust me with their lives at a time where they are most vulnerable. They present to the emergency department and without knowing me at all, they confide in me their medical problems, their psychological problems as well as their social problems. I am challenged with guiding them back to good health. Sometimes there’s a quick fix. Other times it’s just the start of a long journey for which we don’t necessarily know the outcome. I love the opportunity and the trust given to me by my patients and I do not take any moment of it for granted. This is also how I feel about my photography. A client comes in and trusts me to capture who they are in a very short period of time so that they can show the world what truly represents them. This allows me to form a special bond with each of my clients. Now, not all photography of course involves clients. Some images are purely about the beauty of nature and random things that I see. In fact, there is an image that I would like to show to you.

I was in Botswana on safari, when I came upon sisters that are not your typical sisters. These are two lionesses from the same pride.

I hope that you stay tuned as I bring you interesting topics on photography as art and other subjects. Some of these subjects may be medically related and some pure art as I am a mogul in both of those areas. You can follow me on social media as Dr. Leslie Sharpe or at LeslieSharpePhotography.com.

I thank you so much for taking your time out to read this blog. Take care!
